By far the WORST local fish retailer in Leicestershire is A5 AQUATICS Based between Hinckley and Nuneaton on the A5, there store is very impressive but we all know the saying " All the gear no idea" these guys invented the phrase. One a member of staff tried to sell me a Firebelly newt to go with my Discus collection and another said a Channa sp (snakehead) would make good community tank member. I have seen people bring fish back and the shop put the fish straight back in the tank for sale, no quarantine or checks at all. There seems to be breading ponds out the back of the shop (you can see them through the netting outside put up to hide them) and there are disgusting i can only presume that there breading koi in there. I have no idea how this shop is still going and we as informed and knowledgeable fish keepers should keep people away from this place at all costs  |

I agree mate.I've only visited the once and was very disappointed.some of the the fish in there tropical section where plain awful,and certainly not in good health.

i saw a5 selling dyed parrot fish! they do have the gear and occasional decent fish but on the whole agree with the others

Them cus I could not find any with in 40 miles of Leicester

all of my rams i brought from there two weeks ago are now dead the only thing i have left is the krib i brought i wont be going again i think i will order what i want from maiden head even if it means waiting at least i know the fish from there are good quality  |

i got 5 guppies - all dead by morning - i took em back and they said my water was not good - i explained i had 20 other fish in my tank and they were fine - i have a 240 litre 50 inch tank. they still said my water was at fault - they said my testing kit was "useless" i just felt bad for even asking for a refund at that point. any way while i was there i got some mollies and neons - the moliies out of 10 8 died , all the neons, alll 10 died in the space of 5 days. i have seen avoided A5. shame really because its such a nice place to visit.
i now buy via word of mouth and have a lovely selection of 130ish fish all fine.
i think i will go a5 and see what they give me for my fish and they seem to love to breed!

Thats a real shame mate, its not only money you have lost its time and that little bit of soul as you see them dead! its a horrible feeling when people say its your fault but i can reassure you that A5 don't have a clue how to use a testing kit. |

I also agree on most points, their fish are WAY over priced and small. I have tho had 1 fish from their "red tailed shark" and it still lives,  in fact i lost most of my fish due to something that happened in my tank last month  but he is still going! Must of got the lucky one out of 1000 lol. |

As you cant even spell breeding you dont sound a very reliable source to me. My family and I had no issues with A5 over several years of dealings. Or maybe it was supposed to relate to feeding the fish bread.
